A drama series adaptation of Kim Blæsbjerg’s award-winning novel, “De Bedste Familier” (“The Best Families”), is in development at DR (Danish Broadcasting Corporation) and is expected to premiere in 2027. The series, rooted in the history of the Cheminova chemical company’s move to Harboøre Tange in 1953, will explore the complex interplay between societal progress and environmental concerns.
The narrative centers on three families from varying social strata, including operations manager Jørn and his wife, Karin, navigating the moral complexities presented by Cheminova. The series aims to depict the human tendency to overlook uncomfortable truths in order to preserve personal gains.
Henriette Marienlund, Head of DR Drama, emphasized the story’s relevance, stating that it highlights the importance of responsibility and the impact of the choices people make. Maja Jul Larsen, the screenwriter behind the acclaimed DR series “Ulven Kommer” (“When the Wolf Comes”), is writing and developing the series.
