HØJ Håndbold has signed Swedish goalkeeper Martina Thörn to a two-year contract. The 34-year-old joins the newly promoted club after recently playing for København Håndbold, where she reached the Danish Championship semi-finals.
Thörn’s arrival aims to bolster HØJ’s goalkeeping options following an injury to Natasja Clausen. Head coach Kristian Kristensen emphasized Thörn’s experience and passion, noting her past performances for the Swedish national team and various prominent Danish clubs.
Thörn expressed her enthusiasm for joining HØJ, citing the club’s exciting project and the talented team assembled by Kristensen. She also mentioned her motivation to return to top form after recently becoming a mother.
Kristensen highlighted Thörn’s valuable experience from both the Swedish national team and leading Danish clubs, emphasizing the stability she will bring to the goalkeeping unit alongside the injured Clausen.
HØJ Håndbold, entering the top leagues on both the women’s and men’s sides, has been actively strengthening its roster. Besides Thörn, other notable additions for the upcoming season include Mia Rej, Emma Navne, Filippa Nedovic, and Emily Sando. Thörn previously won a gold medal with Odense Håndbold and has represented Sweden in 30 international matches.
