Following FC Midtjylland’s (FCM) 3-1 victory against Brøndby in Sunday’s Superliga match, an incident occurred outside Brøndby Stadium where fan buses were attacked. Men dressed in black threw stones at the buses carrying FCM supporters.
The Copenhagen West Police are investigating the incident, suspecting disgruntled Brøndby fans as the perpetrators. According to duty officer Bo Nyberg Ris, the darkness and the attackers’ attire have made identification difficult, and no arrests have been made so far.
The attack took place as the away fans were preparing to leave the stadium. At least one bus sustained damage, with a window being smashed.
Two individuals suffered minor injuries during the attack; one was hit by a stone, and the other was struck by shards of glass.
The victory places FCM second in the Superliga, just one point behind FC Copenhagen, and they remain the only undefeated team in the league.
For Brøndby, this home defeat marks the end of a difficult week, having now lost three consecutive games. The loss to FCM is particularly painful, as they are direct rivals in the ongoing medal competition.
