South Zealand and Lolland-Falster Police Respond to Over 100 Reports Due to Heavy Rainfall

South Zealand and Lolland-Falster Police are responding to the aftermath of heavy rainfall that impacted Denmark earlier this week, with 109 reports received on Wednesday morning. The reports range from waterlogged roads and displaced manhole covers to flooding in residential properties.

The South Zealand and Lolland-Falster region was particularly affected by the severe weather. Falster recorded over 100 millimeters of rainfall within a 24-hour period.

Even the police station in Slagelse experienced water accumulation in some basement areas. However, authorities stated that this did not disrupt police operations. The Emergency Management Agency was called in to manage the water removal from the police station’s basement.

According to the Danish Meteorological Institute (DMI), Møn, also within the police district, saw an extraordinary 150 millimeters of rain in a single day by Tuesday afternoon. This is a stark contrast to the average rainfall for the entire month of July, which is typically 65.8 millimeters.
