Smoke from Canadian wildfires has reached Northern Europe, causing hazy skies and potentially redder sunrises and sunsets. The soot particles, originating from the ongoing forest fires in Canada, are present in the atmosphere over Northern Europe.
The smoke consists of soot particles high in the atmosphere. According to an Associate Professor, this results in a slightly cloudier sky and more colorful sunrises and sunsets. Currently, the smoke does not pose an immediate health risk in Europe.
Canada is battling numerous forest fires, with around 200 still active. Over 100 of these fires are classified as “out of control,” prompting the evacuation of approximately 25,000 people.
