Sixteen-Year-Old Boy in Custody Following Stabbing in Rødovre

A 16-year-old male is scheduled to appear in court on Saturday for a detention hearing related to a stabbing incident that occurred Friday evening in Gunnekær, Rødovre. The Copenhagen West Police District duty officer, Bo Nyberg Ris, confirmed the arrest and charge of aggravated assault.

The victim, a 19-year-old man, is seriously injured after the stabbing on an open street. Police responded to the incident at 7:31 PM in Gunnekær, Rødovre with a significant presence and initially detained two possible suspects.

According to Bo Nyberg Ris, one of the individuals initially arrested was released after the investigation revealed no involvement in the crime. The 16-year-old is accused of two stabbings against the 19-year-old.

Chief Prosecutor Malene Lund Michaelsen will represent the prosecution in court. She intends to request a closed-door hearing due to the possibility of accomplices still at large. Public disclosure of information from the hearing could potentially compromise the ongoing investigation. The suspect will have the opportunity to address the charges against him during the hearing at 10:15 AM on Saturday.

Authorities clarify that there is currently no evidence to indicate gang-related involvement in the stabbing. The charge of aggravated assault signifies a severe violation, typically applied when weapons are used, or the violence is especially cruel, dangerous, or brutal.
