Danish politician Pia Olsen Dyhr is advocating for parents of young children to be allowed to leave work earlier to alleviate the stress and challenges they face. She believes this measure would improve the balance in their daily lives.
During a speech, Dyhr referenced the Prime Minister’s metaphor of an assembly line, suggesting parents should be able to leave work before 4 p.m. on some days of the week.
SF has previously suggested providing up to five sick days for children, and Dyhr reaffirmed the importance of ensuring employees can care for their sick children without worry. She emphasized that being home with a sick child should be a right, not a luxury.
Dyhr criticized Finance Minister Nicolai Wammen’s repeated discovery of billions in economic leeway, arguing that more of these funds should be allocated to the well-being of young children. She voiced her disappointment with the government’s focus on tax cuts instead. She stated that Denmark’s greatest wealth lies in its people, who grow up and strengthen the country.
