Royal Run 2026 Host Cities Announced

Five cities have been selected to host the Royal Run in 2026: Ringkøbing, Randers, Middelfart, Helsingør, and Copenhagen, according to a press release.

Copenhagen, a perennial host, will be joined by the four other cities making their Royal Run debut.

The 2026 event aims to accommodate a record number of participants, with 111,500 slots available, surpassing the nearly 98,000 runners in 2025.

Morten Mølholm Hansen, CEO of the Sports Confederation of Denmark, stated that the increased capacity addresses the high demand seen in recent years, making the event more accessible to runners.

Participants can choose from three distances: 1.6 kilometers, 5 kilometers, and 10 kilometers.

In 2025, Ribe, Viborg, Horsens, Korsør, and Copenhagen hosted the event, drawing over 97,500 participants.

King Frederik participated in runs in Ribe, Horsens, and Copenhagen, while Crown Prince Christian ran in Viborg, and Queen Mary ran in Korsør.

Launched in 2018, the Royal Run has become an annual tradition, with the exception of 2020 when it was canceled due to the pandemic.

Registration for the 2026 Royal Run opens on October 1 at 10:00 a.m.

Copenhagen will accommodate 50,000 runners, Randers 20,000, Helsingør 17,500, Middelfart 14,000, and Ringkøbing 10,000.

The Royal Run 2026 is scheduled for Whit Monday, May 25, 2026.
