Danish national team player Rikke Iversen is pregnant and expecting her first child in early December, concluding her matches for the year. Team Esbjerg announced the news on their website.
Iversen missed the Champions League final matches in Budapest, where Team Esbjerg finished third, and will also be absent from the upcoming Danish Championship final against Odense. Iversen expressed her happiness about the pregnancy but also her disappointment at missing the important matches with her team.
Head coach Tomas Axnér expressed his joy for Iversen and her partner, acknowledging that pregnancies are a natural part of a player’s career. He noted the potential benefits of taking a break and reflecting on life. This pregnancy marks the fourth within Team Esbjerg in the past year, following Nora Mørk, Kathrine Heindahl, and Marit Røsberg Jacobsen.
Iversen intends to return to her previous level in the new year after her maternity leave. She aims to continue winning medals with both Team Esbjerg and the Danish national team.
