The number of Danish employees with private health insurance has reached a record high, with over three million individuals covered. According to figures from Insurance & Pension (F&P), the industry association, this number has almost tripled since 2010.
The vast majority of these health insurance plans are provided through employer-paid pension schemes. In 2010, only 1.2 million Danes had such agreements.
Almost 700,000 Danes utilized their health insurance benefits in 2024, according to Kent Damsgaard, CEO of F&P.
While physiotherapy remains the most common use for these schemes, there is an increasing demand for mental health support, particularly related to stress. These health schemes often include services like psychological counseling for stress and physiotherapy for physical injuries.
The majority of Danes are covered through collective workplace schemes, while individually signed policies have decreased slightly in recent years.
