Randers FC will begin their Superliga season against Vejle on Sunday without goalkeeper Paul Izzo and top scorer Simen Bolkan Nordli. These two key players from last season are not included in the squad selected by head coach Rasmus Bertelsen.
Izzo’s absence is due to an injury sustained during the pre-season. The Australian goalkeeper, a dependable presence in goal last season, has not participated in any of the team’s test matches. Jannich Storch, a new signing from Lyngby, is anticipated to take his place in the starting lineup against Vejle.
Nordli’s omission from the squad suggests a potential sale. The 25-year-old Norwegian winger, who contributed 14 goals and 12 assists last season, played in pre-season test matches but is not included in the team for the season opener. Søren Pedersen, the sporting director for Randers, confirmed on Thursday that Rosenborg has expressed interest in acquiring Nordli.
