Pure Electricity Prices Plunge to Over a Year Low in June

The price of pure electricity experienced a significant drop in June, reaching its lowest level in over a year. According to statements released by electricity providers Norlys and Andel Energi, the average price plummeted to approximately 40 øre per kilowatt-hour, excluding taxes and levies.

This decrease marks a notable shift in the electricity market, offering potential benefits for consumers. Andel Energi reports that similar average prices have not been seen since February 2024.

The decline is further highlighted by a substantial increase in hours with negative electricity prices. Eastern Denmark recorded 66 hours in June where the pure electricity price fell below one krone. Western Denmark saw an even more dramatic figure, with 116 hours of negative electricity prices.

Mads Brøgger, CEO of Norlys, emphasized the importance of monitoring daily electricity price fluctuations to maximize savings. Brøgger noted the downward trend in electricity prices throughout the year and advised consumers to stay informed about intraday price developments.
