PostNord Denmark Temporarily Suspends Shipments to the USA

PostNord Denmark has temporarily halted all shipments to the United States, citing the need to implement new systems to comply with updated regulations. The announcement, made in a press release on August 20th, impacts businesses and consumers sending packages from Denmark to the US.

The suspension comes as PostNord works with American and international partners to adapt to the evolving requirements for international shipments. Andreas Brethvad, Public Affairs and Communications Director at PostNord Denmark, stated that the company is focused on reopening shipments to the USA and Puerto Rico as soon as possible.

The primary objective is to minimize disruption for customers while ensuring full compliance with all relevant regulations. PostNord aims to have the required systems in place to meet these standards before resuming services.

Danish business organizations have raised concerns about the implications of the new regulations. Dansk Erhverv [the Danish Chamber of Commerce] has questioned who will be responsible for potential fines resulting from customs violations.

Dansk Industri [the Confederation of Danish Industry] notes that the changes will disproportionately affect Danish companies that rely on sending small packages to American clients. These packages often include items such as samples, replacement goods, and spare parts. Dansk Industri estimates that these businesses could face price increases of 200-300 percent.
