Police in the Holstebro area are reaching out to 74 individuals identified in connection with a drug case investigation in an effort to offer assistance with potential addiction issues. According to a press release from Midt- and Vestjyllands Politi (Central and Western Jutland Police) on Tuesday, none of the 74 individuals are charged with any crime.
The initiative aims to help these individuals consider whether they need support to overcome possible addiction problems.
The individuals, aged 15 to 50, are predominantly men. Their names surfaced on the messaging service WhatsApp, where a young man allegedly advertised the sale of cocaine and hash.
Police Commissioner Knud Lauridsen of the local police stated that the 74 individuals had subscribed to the WhatsApp group, which was evidently used for buying and selling cocaine and hash. The police hope to assist them in overcoming potential addictions.
Midt- and Vestjyllands Politi has previously directly contacted a significant number of citizens in connection with drug cases. Last year in Thisted, substance abuse center employees were present at the police station during the questioning of 100 individuals about their purchases.
