A 79-year-old man from Haderslev Municipality drove the wrong way on the Sønderjyske Motorvej, prompting a police response. The incident occurred around 9:00 AM on Tuesday, according to the South and Southern Jutland Police.

To prevent the man from endangering other drivers, police intentionally collided with his vehicle. The police deemed this action necessary for public safety.

The initial reports reached the police at 9:01 AM, indicating a driver traveling in the wrong direction south of the Vojens exit. A patrol car was dispatched and encountered the wrong-way driver heading north.

The collision only resulted in material damage. The highway was temporarily closed to facilitate the removal of both vehicles.

The 79-year-old man has been charged with endangering the lives and limbs of others. South and Southern Jutland Police are urging witnesses to come forward. They are particularly interested in speaking with the driver of a white Tesla who was behind the patrol car and had to brake suddenly.
