The Independent Police Complaint Authority (DUP) is continuing its investigation and appealing for witnesses to an incident in Aalborg on June 15, where an 18-year-old man was seriously injured during an arrest. The incident occurred at approximately 2:00 AM in Jomfru Anes Gård.
According to reports, the young man was initially paralyzed from the neck down after the arrest but has since been transferred to Norway for further medical treatment after undergoing surgery in Denmark.
The North Jutland Police promptly notified the Police Complaint Authority, leading to the initiation of an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the arrest.
While some witnesses have already come forward, the Police Complaint Authority is urging anyone who witnessed the incident, or who may possess photos or videos taken before, during, or after the police arrived, to contact them. Jomfru Anes Gård is located near Jomfru Ane Gade, and there were several people in the vicinity when the police responded.
Reportedly, the 18-year-old was out with friends and had visited Zwei Grosse Bier Bar. After being denied re-entry by the doorman, an argument ensued, prompting a call to the police. The young man claims he was thrown to the ground and his neck was squeezed. He was transported back to Norway on June 20, and while his condition has improved, he still experiences limited mobility in his legs and right arm.
