A 79-year-old man from Haderslev Municipality has been charged with endangering others after driving the wrong way on the Sønderjyske Motorvej (South Jutland Highway) Tuesday morning. According to a press release from Syd- og Sønderjyllands Politi (South and Southern Jutland Police), a police patrol intentionally collided with the man’s vehicle to prevent him from endangering other drivers.

The incident occurred around 9:00 AM south of the Vojens exit, prompting a temporary highway closure while the vehicles were removed. Only material damage resulted from the collision.

Authorities received the first reports of the wrong-way driver at 9:01 AM. A patrol car was dispatched and located the 79-year-old driving northbound in the southbound lanes.

Syd- og Sønderjyllands Politi is seeking witnesses to the incident, particularly the driver of a white Tesla who was forced to brake suddenly behind the patrol car. They are encouraged to contact the police with any information.
