OB secured their first Superliga victory since May 2024 with a 3-1 win over Viborg on Sunday. The promoted team’s triumph was highlighted by an unexpected two-goal performance from defender Nicolas Bürgy, who previously played for Viborg.
Viborg, despite a strong start, couldn’t contain OB’s offensive surge. Bürgy’s two goals within six minutes in the second half significantly widened OB’s lead, making the score 3-0.
The match marked Rasmus Falk’s first home game for OB since 2016. The victory was especially sweet for OB fans as it was their first home win against Viborg in over nine years.
Viborg initially created early opportunities, with Yonis Njoh being presented with a clear chance, but his shot was saved by OB goalkeeper Martin Hansen. OB’s Alexander Zorniger’s team, after a shaky start, found their rhythm, with Noah Ganaus heading them into the lead just before halftime.
Ganaus, who also scored in the previous game against FC Midtjylland, has proven to be a valuable offensive addition. He continued to threaten in the second half, alongside Jay-Roy Grot.
Following Ganaus’s goal, Nicolas Bürgy extended OB’s lead with a header from a Fiete Arp free kick and then scored again shortly after with a shot from 25 meters. Charly Nouck, a former OB player, scored a consolation goal for Viborg in the final minutes. OB fans are celebrating their team’s four points in the first two rounds, while Viborg sits at the bottom of the league table with no points.
