AaB’s hopes for their first win of the season were dashed in a dramatic 2-2 draw against Hillerød, thanks to a late own goal. The match, played in North Zealand, saw both teams reduced to ten men and featured multiple lead changes.
In the 94th minute, Cornelius Olsson, a 19-year-old, inadvertently headed a corner kick into his own net, leveling the score and denying AaB the victory. The own goal came after a tense match where AaB had led for a significant portion.
The game started with AaB taking an early lead. Kelvin John, a fast striker, broke through Hillerød’s defense and scored after just over fifteen minutes.
Hillerød equalized about 20 minutes later when Victor Dedes capitalized on a poor clearance by Olsson to score. However, AaB regained the lead shortly before halftime. Marc Nielsen, 24, scored with a powerful free kick that hit the post before going in.
The second half began with immediate drama. Noel Andersson of AaB received a red card in the first minute after the break, reducing the team to ten players.
Midway through the second half, William Glindtvad of Hillerød also received a red card for a violent tackle, evening the playing field. Despite the equal number of players, Hillerød managed to apply pressure in the final minutes, culminating in Olsson’s unfortunate own goal.
AaB, relegated from the Superliga, remains winless after their opening loss to Kolding. In another match in the league, Esbjerg defeated Hvidovre 2-1, securing their first win of the season.
