North Jutland Emergency Services Request Additional Resources to Combat Skagen Plantation Fire

North Jutland Emergency Services have requested additional resources, including sprayers and tankers, to combat a fire in the Skagen Klitplantage. The increasing wind is raising concerns that the fire could spread.

The emergency services announced on social media platform X that assistance has been requested from stations in Dronninglund, Hals, and Aabybro. These reinforcements will help supply more water to the established stopping belts around the fire-affected area.

According to center manager Per Vedsted from North Jutland Emergency Services, the fire is currently assessed to be under control. “The fire is still within the area we have contained. But our concern is that the fire could spread further because it is blowing so strongly,” Vedsted stated. The increased wind has caused the fire to flare up more intensely.

Around 70 firefighters have been working throughout the night to contain and fight the flames. The primary concern is whether the stopping belts will hold, or whether the fire will spread into the forest area behind them. Vedsted emphasized that the extra manpower will help supply additional water and address any sparks that may jump into the forest area.

The cause of the fire remains unknown. Skagen is currently experiencing a high number of holiday guests, as this week is known to be the most popular holiday week in the town. No injuries have been reported in connection with the fire.
