Copenhagen’s renowned restaurant Noma, despite announcing its closure at the end of 2025, has reported a profit of 1.3 million kroner for 2024. The financial statement was released shortly after Noma retained its three Michelin stars in June, solidifying its status as a dining destination “worth traveling for.”
However, the profit was largely due to 1.8 million kroner received in state aid related to the corona lockdown. Without this compensation, Noma would have operated at a deficit.
Co-owner René Redzepi and CEO Peter Kreiner described the financial results as “satisfactory and as expected.” The profit marks a 23 percent increase compared to 2023, when Noma reported a profit of approximately one million kroner.
The restaurant industry is known for its financial challenges, even at the highest levels of gastronomy.
Noma, which has repeatedly been named the world’s best restaurant, currently operates in Refshaleøen, Copenhagen. The location will transform into a food laboratory after its closure at the end of 2025, focusing on producing items such as vinegar, kombucha, and dressings using Nordic ingredients.
In the spring of 2026, Noma will embark on a new venture in Los Angeles. Redzepi recently revealed the destination, indicating a shift towards warmer climates and different raw materials. He stated that they are coming to Los Angeles with great enthusiasm.
