Nikolaj Ehlers is shifting his focus to the World Championship after a disappointing end to the Winnipeg Jets’ playoff run. The Jets, who had a strong regular season, were eliminated by the Dallas Stars in the second round.
Ehlers expressed his disappointment, acknowledging the team’s high expectations and the missed opportunity. “It was one of the heavier ones. It was tough and annoying,” Ehlers said, reflecting on the loss. Despite the setback, he anticipates looking back on the season with pride after the World Championships.
The team had a special bond and a real chance to contend for the Stanley Cup, according to Ehlers.
Immediately after the defeat in Dallas, Ehlers and his teammates shared a final meal and drinks together. He quickly joined the Danish national team to prepare for their crucial group match against Germany.
Ehlers’ future with the Winnipeg Jets remains uncertain as his contract expires this summer. He did not comment on his plans for the upcoming season.
Ehlers will represent Denmark in the World Championship quarter-final against Canada.
