A new government initiative, “Cancer Plan 5,” aims to improve the preparation of frail cancer patients for demanding treatments, ultimately reducing the risk of complications. The plan, set to be unveiled on Friday, focuses on providing tailored preparatory efforts for patients before they undergo cancer treatment.
Minister of Health Sophie Løhde emphasizes the current lack of standardized preparatory measures for cancer patients. The goal of “Cancer Plan 5” is to address this gap by ensuring patients are better equipped to handle the rigors of cancer treatment, leading to improved outcomes and a smoother treatment process.
The preparatory courses will be customized to individual patient needs. These may include weight management strategies, such as weight loss or gain, depending on the patient’s condition. Additionally, the plan may incorporate physical exercise programs to enhance patients’ overall health and resilience before they begin chemotherapy or other demanding treatments.
