An energy industry trade organization in Denmark, Green Power Denmark, has discovered unexplained components in imported electronics intended for use in the country’s energy infrastructure. The organization has informed relevant authorities and suspended cooperation with the supplier.
Green Power Denmark has not provided details regarding the origin of the imported products or the specific part of the energy infrastructure for which they were intended. The trade organization has also declined to identify the specific authorities that have been notified.
This discovery follows a recent report concerning similar incidents in the United States. Transmitters were found in equipment, specifically for solar farms and batteries, shipped from China. These transmitters were allegedly programmed to circumvent firewalls, potentially enabling the destabilization of the power grid or, in a worst-case scenario, a power outage.
