A 41-year-old Danish man has been sentenced to six years in prison for sending over 2.4 million fraudulent SMS messages designed to steal victims’ financial information. The Frederiksberg Court issued the sentence on Tuesday after the man was found guilty of posing as companies like PostNord and BroBizz in the scam, according to Copenhagen Police.

The man sent the fraudulent messages between June and October 2024, attempting to trick recipients into providing their credit card details. While he succeeded in defrauding 42 victims, obtaining over 500,000 kroner, he also attempted to defraud many more.

The court also convicted him of attempting to defraud an additional 23 million kroner. In these cases, he had obtained sensitive information but was apprehended before he could misuse it.
