A 35-year-old man has been sentenced to one year in prison for assaulting an 18-year-old at Nørreport Station in Copenhagen. The Copenhagen City Court found him guilty of both violence and endangering the young man’s life. The incident occurred early in the morning on June 22nd, when the 18-year-old was attacked with punches and kicks at the underground station.
The teenager fell onto the tracks as a result of the assault. Fortunately, he was able to pull himself back up to safety before a train arrived.
Copenhagen Police announced the sentencing on X on Thursday. The 35-year-old was arrested shortly after the incident.
Police noted that several witnesses were present during the assault. Some travelers even followed the perpetrator as he boarded a train. He was apprehended at another station.
Later that day, the man was brought before a preliminary hearing in Copenhagen City Court and was remanded in custody.
The convicted man has two weeks to decide whether to appeal the judgment to the Eastern High Court.
