Man Sentenced to Prison for Aggravated Rape of Teenage Girl

Patrick Liljeqvist Sørensen, 37, has been sentenced to three years and nine months in prison for the aggravated rape of a 16-year-old girl in Vejle in December of last year. The Southeast Jutland Police announced the sentencing on Thursday.

Sørensen was convicted of forcing the girl into his car at knifepoint. The assaults occurred between 00:48 and 03:31 on December 29.

The rape took place both in the car and at a nature playground in Søndermarksskoven. Authorities classified the case as aggravated rape due to the lack of any prior relationship between the victim and the perpetrator.

Claus Guldbrand, a special prosecutor, stated that aggravated rapes are the most serious form of rape, as they target random individuals. He expressed satisfaction with the court’s decision to impose a strict sentence, though the prosecution had requested four years.

The Southeast Jutland Police received a rape report on the night of the assaults. The police sought public assistance during the investigation, including help in identifying a small car with a broken taillight. Sørensen was apprehended and detained a few weeks after the rape.

Despite pleading not guilty, Sørensen has chosen to accept the verdict.
