Man Sentenced to Prison for Abuse and Threats Against Former Wife

A 39-year-old man has been sentenced to one year in prison for a violent assault against his former wife in Hedehusene in May. The Copenhagen West Police described the sentence as significant in a press release on Monday.

The incident, which occurred on the night of May 10th, involved hours of abuse. The woman was subjected to beatings and kicking during the prolonged assault.

According to the indictment, the man threatened the woman, demanding, “You must kneel before me and kiss my feet.” He further threatened her life, stating, “I will cut your throat if you don’t do what I say.”

The man was arrested and taken into custody shortly after the crime. Following the verdict, he requested to be released until his prison term began. However, prosecutor Albert Taleshan requested that the court maintain his custody.

The prosecutor argued that continued custody was necessary both for law enforcement purposes and to protect the victim from potential encounters with the perpetrator. The Court in Glostrup granted the request, and the 39-year-old will remain in custody.
