A 30-year-old man, Elias Fredlin Skriver, has been sentenced to life imprisonment for the fatal shooting of a 43-year-old man and the wounding of a woman in Nørrebro, Copenhagen, on August 8, 2024. The Copenhagen City Court delivered the sentence on Thursday.
Skriver confessed to the crime and has accepted the sentence, according to his defense attorney, Rune Wiborg. In court, the 30-year-old explained that he had a substantial drug debt he was unable to resolve and was coerced by unnamed individuals to settle it in another way.
The man stated he was told to carry out the shooting or his family would be harmed. These individuals allegedly forced him to shoot at people in known gang areas of Nørrebro, though he was not specifically told who to target.
Skriver testified that he was instructed to shoot individuals who appeared to be gang members. Media reports have previously indicated that the 43-year-old man who was killed had a prior murder conviction.
