A 57-year-old man has been sentenced to eight months in prison for commercially trading 103 puppies without the required permits. The Court in Glostrup found him guilty of the offenses on Thursday.
The court also determined that the man illegally imported 80 puppies from Poland. These puppies lacked the necessary import permits and had not received rabies vaccinations.
The majority of the puppies were Maltese. The court concluded that the man generated nearly DKK 1.6 million from the sales.
Furthermore, the man was convicted of money laundering connected to a 64-year-old woman. He transferred proceeds from the dog sales to her account, intending to conceal the money’s origin.
The court did not convict the woman of money laundering. However, she was found guilty of receiving stolen goods and sentenced to three months in prison.
Neither the man nor the woman were present in court. Their defense attorneys argued for acquittal.
