A 23-year-old man has been remanded in custody for four weeks in connection with the murder of a 35-year-old man in Søborg on May 2nd. The decision was made by the Court in Glostrup on Tuesday during a preliminary hearing.
The man is charged with murder and attempted murder, allegedly committed with several accomplices. He has pleaded not guilty to the charges.
Three other men, aged 26, 28, and 35, were previously remanded in custody in connection with the case. The victim, a 35-year-old man, was shot in his car on Novembervej in the Mørkhøj area of Søborg. They also deny all charges.
In addition to the murder charge, the men are charged with the attempted murder of a 12-year-old girl who was in the passenger seat of the victim’s car. She was unharmed during the incident.
The indictment states that on May 2nd at approximately 5:50 PM, the suspects allegedly fired six shots with a .38 caliber revolver at the car. The 35-year-old man was struck by three bullets, including one to the head, and later died at Rigshospitalet.
Following the attack, police described the murder as “extremely brutal and cynically executed.”
The victim was reportedly known to the police, and his brother was allegedly involved in the Copenhagen gang environment. Police have not commented on this information and state that several perpetrators are still at large.
The 23-year-old’s lawyer has reserved the right to appeal the custody decision to the High Court. Neither the defense attorney nor the prosecutor offered further comments.
