Man Remanded in Custody for Søborg Murder

A 23-year-old man has been remanded in custody for four weeks in connection with the murder of a 35-year-old man in Søborg on May 2nd. The decision was made by the Court in Glostrup on Tuesday during a preliminary hearing.

The man is charged with murder and attempted murder alongside several accomplices, charges he denies. This case involves the shooting of a 35-year-old man in his car on Novembervej in the Mørkhøj area of Søborg.

Previously, three other men, aged 26, 28, and 35, were also remanded in custody in connection to the same case. They also deny all charges.

The charges include the attempted murder of a 12-year-old girl who was in the passenger seat of the victim’s car at the time of the shooting. Fortunately, she was unharmed. The indictment states that on May 2nd at approximately 5:50 PM, the perpetrators fired six shots with a .38-caliber revolver at the car.

The 35-year-old victim was struck by three shots, including one to the head. He later died at Rigshospitalet. Following the attack, Deputy Police Inspector Charlotte Skovby described the murder as “extremely brutal and cynically executed.”

While the victim was known to the police and his brother was allegedly connected to the Copenhagen gang environment, Copenhagen West Police has not confirmed this information. Authorities have stated that several perpetrators are still at large.

The 23-year-old’s lawyer has reserved the right to appeal the decision to the High Court. Neither the defense attorney nor the prosecutor have offered further comments at this time.
