A 26-year-old man has been remanded in custody for his alleged involvement in the hand grenade explosion at a Copenhagen nail salon in April. The decision was made during a preliminary hearing at the Frederiksberg Court on Tuesday.
The attack, which occurred on the night of April 21st, targeted Do Salon & Do Nails, located at the intersection of Frederikssundsvej and Tomsgårdsvej. While the explosion caused significant damage to several windows, no injuries were reported.
The 26-year-old joins two other individuals already in custody in connection with the case.
Earlier, a 31-year-old Iraqi man was arrested at the end of April and subsequently detained for allegedly detonating the hand grenade. He pleaded not guilty during his court hearing and refused to comment.
Following the explosion, police received multiple calls from witnesses. Reports indicated that an individual was seen fleeing the scene immediately after the incident. The police promptly cordoned off the area surrounding the nail salon to conduct investigations.
The investigative team comprised police forensic technicians, the Defense’s Explosive Ordnance Disposal service (EOD), and the Emergency Management Agency’s chemical preparedness unit. Their collaborative efforts confirmed that a hand grenade was the cause of the explosion.
On May 24th, an 18-year-old man was also apprehended in connection with the case. He is accused of possessing the hand grenade with another individual before it was ultimately handed over to the person who detonated it. He has also pleaded not guilty to the charges against him.
