A 34-year-old man has been remanded in custody by the Esbjerg court, charged with attempted murder following a shooting incident in Vejen on Sunday evening. The South and Southern Jutland Police announced this development on X.
The incident occurred on Rønnebærhaven in the southern part of Vejen, where a 44-year-old man was shot at. According to reports, the victim was struck by two or three shots fired from approximately two meters away.
The prosecution stated that a shotgun was used in the attack. Residents reported seeing the victim bleeding in a driveway, where he received initial first aid. Eyewitnesses confirmed that the 44-year-old man was conscious and survived the shooting.
The motive behind the shooting and the extent of the police investigation remain undisclosed. The court hearing was held behind closed doors to protect the integrity of the ongoing investigation. Consequently, the relationship between the victim and the accused is not publicly known.
