A 34-year-old man has been remanded in custody by the Esbjerg court, charged with attempted murder following a shooting incident that occurred in Vejen on Sunday evening. The South and Southern Jutland Police reported the incident on X.
The shooting took place on Rønnebærhaven in the southern part of Vejen, where a 44-year-old man was shot at from close range. According to the indictment, a shotgun was used in the attack.
Eyewitnesses reported that the victim was found bleeding in a driveway on the residential street and received first aid at the scene. The 44-year-old man was conscious and survived the attack.
The 34-year-old man was arrested in Ribe. The motive behind the shooting and the information obtained by the police remain undisclosed to the public, as the court hearing was held behind closed doors to protect the ongoing investigation. The relationship between the victim and the accused is also not publicly known.
The 34-year-old will be held in custody for two weeks while the police continue their investigation.
