A 34-year-old man has been remanded in custody for four weeks on charges of attempted production of explosives. The charges include attempting to possess materials for producing TATP, a highly unstable explosive known as “Mother of Satan.”
The man is also charged with possession of euphoric substances, including amphetamine. He was arrested on Tuesday following a police operation that involved ammunition disposal experts from the Armed Forces. An area on Jernbanegade in Silkeborg was cordoned off during the operation, but the arrest occurred in a forest in southwestern Silkeborg.
The defendant declined to comment on the charges before the preliminary hearing was closed to the public. Consequently, details of the accused’s explanation and the evidence against him remain undisclosed. The preliminary hearing took place in the Court in Viborg.
