An 18-year-old man has been remanded in custody for nearly three weeks following his alleged involvement in football-related brawls at the Roskilde Festival. The Midt- and West Zealand Police announced the detention on X.
The man, who pleaded not guilty, did not appeal the detention to the High Court. He was initially arrested on Friday on suspicion of violence against two individuals, including punches, kicks, blows with a truncheon, and participation in brawls. Police have linked him to a series of brawls between football hooligans that occurred at the festival.
On Saturday, the police also charged the 18-year-old with an incident from the previous Sunday, where he allegedly attacked another man in the festival’s camping area, resulting in a broken jaw.
Authorities received a total of three reports of fighting on Monday. The incidents reportedly involved fans of Brøndby IF and FC Copenhagen. The initial brawl occurred at 8:45 PM in the camping area, but no one was willing to file a report. Soon after, another report surfaced involving a fight between 20 to 30 football hooligans. Four teenage boys sustained injuries after being struck with bottles and aluminum poles, but only one chose to report the incident. Shortly after, another mass brawl erupted involving 10 to 20 people, where camping chairs and a wheelbarrow were used as weapons. One man injured in the fight informed police that he was targeted because of his support for a specific football team; he also declined to file a report.
During Sunday’s preliminary hearing, a publication ban was issued to protect the 18-year-old’s identity.
