Man on Trial for Sexually Assaulting Prostitutes in Copenhagen

A 45-year-old man is on trial in Copenhagen, accused of sexually assaulting multiple prostitutes after disputes over payment. The man faces charges of rape by sexual relations other than intercourse, attempted rape, and indecent exposure, to which he has pleaded not guilty.

According to the prosecution, the alleged incidents occurred during the summer and autumn of 2023 at various locations in Copenhagen. The man is accused of molesting four different women after disagreements about the price for their services.

One specific incident outlined in the case involves the man allegedly touching a prostitute’s crotch, buttocks, and breasts despite her repeated attempts to push him away and tell him to leave. Another prostitute reported to police that the man refused to pay the agreed-upon price and then refused to leave her room, even after being asked. The indictment claims he molested her despite her resistance, including kicking him.

The man admits to visiting the locations where the alleged assaults occurred but denies the women’s accounts of the events. He stated in court that he would attempt to negotiate a lower price upon arriving at their agreed-upon location, believing they would not agree to his initial offers. He also claimed that he had been touched inappropriately by prostitutes in the past, which he did not find offensive.

He further stated that prostitutes had grabbed his crotch to persuade him to stay if he was about to leave due to price disagreements. He admitted he might also touch the women to persuade them, but would stop immediately if they expressed discomfort.

The next court hearing in this case is scheduled for May 26.
