A 29-year-old man is in the hospital with serious stab wounds after an incident on the E45 motorway near Aalborg Friday evening. The stabbing occurred at the junction with the E39 in a southbound direction.

Police were initially dispatched to the scene following reports of a traffic accident at 9:41 PM. While responding to the accident report, authorities received a separate call about a stabbing at the same location. Upon arrival, they found the 29-year-old man in the emergency lane, suffering from significant stab wounds.

Investigators believe the traffic accident and the stabbing are connected. The current theory is that two vehicles were involved in a road rage incident, possibly involving a collision, which then escalated to the stabbing.

Authorities are seeking information from potential witnesses who were driving in the area of the E39 and E45 junction around 9:40 PM Friday. Anyone who may have seen or heard anything relevant to the investigation is urged to contact the police at 114.

While the investigation is ongoing, police have stated that alcohol is not believed to be a factor. The focus of the investigation will be to determine the exact sequence of events, including whether the man was involved in a traffic accident prior to the stabbing.

Following the incident, the motorway was temporarily closed to allow for investigation, including searches conducted by dog patrols. The motorway was reopened to traffic at 00:30 on Saturday morning after the vehicles were removed from the scene.
