A 24-year-old man died Saturday evening after a collision between a van and a train at an unguarded railway crossing near Kliplev in Southern Jutland. South and South Jutland Police confirmed the fatality on platform X.
The accident occurred around 6:57 p.m. when the van, which was pulling a trailer, collided with an InterCityLyn train traveling from Copenhagen to Sønderborg. The Danish State Railways (DSB) reported that there were approximately 60 passengers on board the train. No injuries were reported among the train passengers.
Police and emergency services responded to the scene on Kådnervej near Kliplev, south of Aabenraa. Authorities indicated they would be working at the location for several hours.
DSB has dispatched personnel to the site to assist both passengers and staff. The Accident Investigation Board has been notified and will be investigating the circumstances surrounding the collision.
Train services between Tinglev and Gråsten have been suspended due to the accident. DSB has arranged for replacement buses to transport passengers between the affected stations.
The police have notified the victim’s family.
