Man convicted of assault at Nørreport Station

A 35-year-old man has been sentenced to one year in prison for assaulting an 18-year-old at Copenhagen’s Nørreport Station in June. The Copenhagen City Court determined that the victim was put in danger when he was kicked in the stomach and fell onto the tracks.

The incident occurred around 5:00 AM on June 22nd. The victim managed to climb back onto the platform before a train arrived. The perpetrator was apprehended shortly after the assault, thanks to witnesses who followed him on a train to another station.

The 35-year-old man was arrested and brought before a preliminary hearing later that day, subsequently being remanded in custody. Prosecutor Cecilie Barrett confirmed that the man was convicted of both endangering and committing violence against the young man. Two eyewitnesses from the station provided testimony during the court hearing.

The motive behind the assault remains unclear, as it was not revealed during the court proceedings. The convicted man has two weeks to decide whether to appeal the judgment to the Eastern High Court.
