Man Charged with Bomb Threats Against TV 2

A 34-year-old man has been charged with making bomb threats against TV 2 and is scheduled to appear in court Friday morning. The arrest occurred after a collaborative effort between Funen Police and East Jutland Police.

The man was apprehended at his residence in Aarhus V. He is also facing charges for previous death threats and threats against individuals in public service. East Jutland Police confirmed the multiple charges on X.

The bomb threat, delivered via email, prompted an immediate response from authorities. TV 2’s headquarters on Kvægtorvet in Odense was targeted, leading to the evacuation of employees while police with explosives detection dogs conducted a thorough search of the premises.

The search concluded at 5:30 PM with no explosive devices found, allowing TV 2 employees to return to work. According to Police Commissioner Kenneth Taanquist of Funen Police, the threat stemmed from discontent with TV 2’s reporting on the Middle East conflict.

Prosecutors will request a closed-door custody hearing, limiting public access to details of the case. The hearing, set to take place at the Court in Aarhus at 10:30 AM, will primarily reveal the charges against the man and potentially his stance on them. Evidence presented by the police and any statements from the man will remain confidential if the hearing proceeds behind closed doors.
