A 62-year-old man has been charged with arson after allegedly setting fire to his own home on Rørsangervej in Viborg. The incident occurred on Thursday, prompting a swift response from emergency services.
The Central and West Jutland Police received a report at 5:47 PM regarding a fire at a private residence. Firefighters and police patrols were immediately dispatched to the scene, where they found the house heavily ablaze.
According to acting police commissioner Maria Jensen of the local Viborg police, authorities quickly developed a suspicion regarding the cause of the fire. Two individuals were apprehended shortly after 6:00 PM. One was questioned and subsequently released.
The other individual, the 62-year-old resident of the property, is scheduled to appear before a preliminary hearing at the Court in Viborg on Friday at 11:00 AM. He faces charges of intentional arson.
Fortunately, no injuries were reported as a result of the fire.
