A 42-year-old man has been arrested and charged in connection with the 2017 rape of a woman on Amager. The Copenhagen Police announced the arrest in a recent press release.

The breakthrough in the eight-year-old case came after the man was recently apprehended and charged in an unrelated case in another part of the country. During that arrest, authorities collected DNA from the suspect.

The DNA sample taken from the man has now been matched to evidence from the 2017 rape case, according to the police.

The suspect is scheduled to appear in court for a preliminary hearing on Tuesday.
