Man Appears in Court for Unlawful Detention, Violence, Threats, and Extortion

A 51-year-old man is facing a preliminary hearing in Aarhus on Thursday morning, accused of unlawfully detaining a 61-year-old man for nearly a day. East Jutland Police announced the hearing via social media platform X.

The alleged incident involved an unidentified accomplice. The victim was reportedly subjected to violence, threats, and extortion during the detention.

According to the East Jutland Police prosecution’s indictment, the deprivation of liberty occurred at two separate locations in Viby J, near Aarhus. The 61-year-old man was allegedly held captive from the evening of April 12th to the afternoon of April 13th.

Reports indicate the victim suffered physical harm, including being punched in the face. The indictment also alleges that a dog was used to bite the victim on the leg and hand.

The prosecution anticipates requesting a closed court session. If the judge grants this request, details of the 51-year-old’s testimony and the police’s evidence will remain confidential.
