Magasin du Nord Acquires Danish Fashion Brand Bitte Kai Rand

Magasin du Nord has acquired the Danish fashion brand Bitte Kai Rand to strengthen its position in Danish design and craftsmanship. According to a press release from Magasin du Nord, the acquisition aligns with their commitment to brands possessing a strong design heritage and clear identity, similar to Magasin itself.

Camilla Deichmann, head of Magasin’s venture business and future CEO of Bitte Kai Rand, expressed enthusiasm for developing the brand while respecting its history and leveraging synergies within Magasin’s ecosystem. Magasin Ventures aims to extend Bitte Kai Rand’s market presence not only in Denmark, but also in select international markets.

Bitte Kai Rand, founded in 1981 by the designer of the same name, currently operates five physical stores and maintains a presence in hundreds of stores both domestically and internationally, including a dedicated department within Magasin on Kongens Nytorv in Copenhagen. Bitte Kai Rand expressed her satisfaction with Magasin taking over the brand, noting that Magasin was one of the first retailers to carry her designs in 1984.

The acquisition of Bitte Kai Rand is part of Magasin Ventures’ broader investment strategy, which includes stakes in brands such as Messy Weekend, Copenhagen Cartel, Lust Copenhagen, Blid, and Relevant. The financial terms of the sale have not been disclosed.
