King Frederik marked his 57th birthday with a public appearance on the balcony of Frederik VIII’s Palace at noon on Monday. He was joined by his wife, Queen Mary, their children, and his mother, Queen Margrethe.

The royal family waved to the crowd gathered to celebrate the occasion.

Shortly after the King’s appearance, the Royal Life Guards performed a grand changing of the guard, debuting a new honour march composed specifically for King Frederik. This marked the first time the new march has been played in public.
