Judge Advocate Faces Impartiality Complaint After Attending Israel-Palestine Debate

Judge Advocate Nina Palesa Bonde is facing a complaint questioning her impartiality after attending a debate on the Israeli-Palestinian conflict at the University of Copenhagen as an audience member. The draft complaint, which has been circulating online, raises concerns about her professional work as a judge advocate due to her presence at what it describes as a “strongly political and with ideological agendas” event.

Bonde, a trained debater, expressed feeling watched and harassed following the incident. She believes the complaint is part of a coordinated effort to discredit her due to her active participation in public debates, particularly those concerning the Middle East.

According to Bonde, the complaint contains errors and misrepresents her role at the event. She emphasizes that she attended as a private individual and was not involved in organizing the debate. In a Facebook post, Bonde shared a screenshot of the draft complaint and highlighted the potential chilling effect such actions could have on others who wish to participate in public discourse.

Bonde states that she will not withdraw from public debate despite feeling watched and experiencing previous complaints about her impartiality. She views the current situation as indicative of a shift in the discourse surrounding the Israel-Palestine conflict, where individuals are targeted for simply attending debates.

It has not been confirmed whether the complaint has been officially submitted to the Danish Court Administration. Bonde believes that the circulation of the draft complaint is a means of discrediting her, regardless of whether it becomes a formal complaint. She hopes that by sharing her experience, she can raise awareness and support others who face similar challenges when engaging in public debate.
