Alm. Brand Group is urging its customers to take precautions as the first day of summer is expected to be very rainy. The insurance company has sent text messages with preventative advice to its customers on how to protect their homes and belongings.
This warning follows forecasts from TV 2 Vejret indicating a risk of downpours, thunderstorms, and strong winds on Sunday. The Danish Meteorological Institute (DMI) has stated that heavy rain and thunderstorms could lead to local downpours. A downpour is defined by DMI as 15 millimeters of rain in 30 minutes, and there is also a risk of hail and thunder.
Jan Graversgaard, Director of Building and Housing at Alm. Brand Group, advises customers to inspect their homes, ensuring that gutters and downpipes are clear. He also recommends lifting valuable items off basement floors to prevent potential water damage. Graversgaard noted the drought index in East Jutland, explaining that dry soil can prevent water from seeping down, leading to surface water accumulation and potential entry into homes.
Additionally, Alm. Brand Group advises securing trampolines, bringing in grills, garden furniture, and garden plants, and laying down flagpoles where possible.
