A notable increase in the number of individuals over 60 starting new jobs was recorded in 2024, contrasting with a decline in the 18-59 age group. According to data from the Agency for Labour Market and Recruitment, analyzed by the interest organization Lederne, 49,549 people in the 60+ age bracket began new employment last year.
This figure represents an increase of almost 3,000 compared to the previous year, marking the highest level since 2009, when record-keeping began.
Kim Møller Laursen, chief employment policy consultant at Lederne, commented on the trend. He highlighted the significance of experienced workers experiencing progress while other age demographics are seeing a decrease. Laursen further emphasized that seniors are increasingly recognized as a valuable and desirable segment of the workforce.
